Good morning, Lancaster.
Happy 50% Off Easter Candy Day to all who celebrate! I love those little Reese's eggs. Perfect ratio of chocolate to peanut butter.

THE DIGEST
Lancaster Graphic Designer Helped Her Mom Find a Donor — Now It's Her Turn 💛
Missy Stoltzfus, a 49-year-old graphic designer from Lancaster, is searching for a living kidney donor after 32 years of living with lupus. Stoltzfus was added to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania's transplant list on January 2 and currently filters just 16-17 milliliters of blood per minute — functioning kidneys handle about 100. Her nephrologist, Dr. Charles Rodenberger, wants to get her a transplant before she needs dialysis, which typically starts when that number drops to 10.
Here's the thing: Stoltzfus has been through this before — on the other side. In 2022, she ran a social media campaign that connected her mother, Sue Mackey, 73, with a living liver donor who turned out to be one of Mackey's former fifth-grade students at what's now Smith-Wade-El Elementary. Now Mackey is walking beside her daughter through the same process. Anyone interested in learning more about becoming a donor can visit penntransplant.donorscreen.org or read Stoltzfus's story at withlovemissy.com.
What's Opening, Closing, and Remodeling Around Lancaster County 🔄
A lot is happening on the local business front this week. Here's the roundup:
The Lancaster Costco food court at 1875 Hempstead Road is closing temporarily for a remodel. No official timeline yet, but shoppers are hoping the overhaul fixes the notorious bottleneck near the self-checkout lanes. (If you know, you know.)
Village Greens miniature golf in Strasburg Township reopened for the season on Saturday under new owners Travis and Lindsey Jankowski. Travis, a Lancaster County native and current Texas Rangers coach, bought the course at 1444 Village Road in February for $1.17 million. New additions include Tiny Tees Village — a mini Strasburg. The grand reopening featured a free egg hunt with more than 4,000 eggs.
Scoops, the beloved seasonal ice cream shop in Mountville, hasn't announced its official 2026 opening date yet, but a Yelp listing points to April 15. Based on prior years, that tracks. Start planning your first-scoop-of-the-season trip now.
The Chick-fil-A on Lincoln Highway has temporarily closed for renovations, sending a wave of extra traffic to the Belmont location on Route 30. It's gotten bad enough that a constable has been stationed there to manage vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Residents report near-collisions and drivers blowing through stop signs near the adjacent Starbucks. If you can avoid the Belmont shopping center for a few weeks, you might want to.
And in Elizabethtown, Pizzatown and Ferrarelli House of Wine at 50 Veterans Drive in Mount Joy Township closed for good on Saturday after more than 20 years. The reason? A new Sheetz. The convenience store and gas station are expected to be finished before January 2028. One door closes, a Sheetz opens.
Lancaster Company Built Components Flying on Artemis II Right Now 🚀
If you looked up at the sky this week and thought about the moon, here's a Lancaster connection: Advanced Cooling Technologies, based in Burle Business Park at 1004 New Holland Avenue, built structural components currently aboard the Artemis II rocket — humanity's first crewed lunar voyage in more than half a century. Four astronauts launched from Kennedy Space Center this week for a 10-day trip around the moon, with splashdown expected off San Diego on April 10.
ACT's technology — including two-phase liquid cooling and heat pipes — keeps hardware from overheating (or freezing) in space. The company was founded in 2003 as a research firm and now occupies 83,000 square feet in Lancaster. Investment giant Blackstone announced last month it's acquiring a majority stake to expand manufacturing capacity. Lancaster, Pennsylvania: thermal management capital of the world. Has a nice ring to it.
