THE DIGEST

Easter Egg Hunts Are Taking Over Lancaster County This Weekend 🐣

If you have kids (or you just really like free candy), this is your weekend. Lancaster County is absolutely loaded with Easter events over the next few days, and the biggest one might be the 4th Annual Community Easter Egg Hunt at Culliton Park on Saturday at 10 a.m. Hosted by SoWe and the School District of Lancaster, it features 5,000+ eggs filled with candy and toys, plus free breakfast, books, face painting, balloon making, food trucks, and prizes for 250+ kids. Rain date is Sunday.

That's just the start. Strasburg Rail Road is running Easter Bunny Train Rides on Saturday and Sunday with candy drops on the hour from noon to 5 p.m. — and Saturday includes an add-on egg hunt at The Barn at Paradise Station. Conestoga United Methodist Church has a hunt at 10 a.m. Saturday for preschool through sixth grade. Kitchen Kettle Village is hosting Breakfast with Yummie and the Easter Bunny on Saturday. And if you're looking for something Sunday, Bergstrasse Lutheran Church in Ephrata has their annual hunt at 11:45 a.m. Good luck choosing just one.

Gas Prices Are Dropping After Flirting with $4 a Gallon ⛽

Some good news at the pump. After several Turkey Hill stations jumped above $4 per gallon earlier this month — with one on Manheim Pike hitting $4.24 and another on Willow Street Pike reaching $4.25 — prices across Lancaster County are coming back down. Most stations are now ranging from about $3.75 to $3.99 for regular unleaded.

The dip comes after the Iran conflict drove global oil prices up throughout March. One holdout: the Turkey Hill at Columbia Avenue and Rohrerstown Road in East Hempfield Township was still at $4.05 as of Thursday morning. So maybe don't fill up there.

The Lancaster Quilt Show Just Drew Tourist Buses from Four States 🧵

Here's something you might not know: one of the oldest quilt shows on the East Coast runs right here in our backyard. The 34th annual Lancaster Quilt Show is happening now through Saturday at the Lebanon Valley Exposition Center & Fairgrounds in North Cornwall Township, and it's completely free — admission and parking.

The show features 60 vendors from states including Indiana, Maryland, Utah, and North Carolina, 250+ quilts on display, and 50+ educational seminars. Opening day on Wednesday was so popular that four tourist buses arrived from Connecticut, Georgia, Rhode Island, and Virginia. Last year drew an estimated 12,000 attendees. Co-organizers Cynthia Turnbow and her daughter Aasta Deth are in their 17th year running it, and the Lebanon Quilters Guild (founded 1984, about 130 members) contributed 30 quilts. The guild also makes quilts for Hershey Medical Center's children's oncology, VA nursing homes, and Quilts of Valor for veterans. Love to see it.
